- Matrix flow charts: Matrix flow charts aren't as popular as the two above but they are still used by many businesses within specific processes. Matrix diagrams can be likened to an employee analysis because their main objective is to determine how well employees did with their jobs. These diagrams help to cut out the fluff that occurs within business projects. How? Matrix diagrams make sure that no employees double up on duties. When this type of chart is used the efficiency of a business is greatly enhanced.

Since flow charts are a pictorial representation of a certain process they contain several different types of symbols. Connectors are used frequently in various flow charts (there are four main types) and they are represented by circles which visually trace the paths of the chart. The main aspect of these flow chart symbols is the arrow points within the circles. Most circles will contain more then one arrow coming into them (representing how a certain step is accomplished) but only one arrow going out (which shows the one result of all the effort made). These arrows all work in conjuncture to show how a business operation is processed.
